Heather Gollnick - 5X Ironman Champion

Gollnick was the fastest US woman at the 2004 Ironman Hawaii World Championships. Her first experience with First Endurance was following the 2004 Wildflower 1/2 Ironman where she took 2nd."I took a serving of Ultragen following the race and was really impressed with the flavor and consistency of the product. It went down really smooth, where other drinks are hard to swallow. I was amazed on the following day realizing this was the least sore I had ever been following a 1/2 Ironman"

Gollnick later found equally impressive results with her use of Optygen and EFS. "A car crash left me sidelined for three weeks before Coeur d'Alene, I started using Optygen at that point and can honestly say that it helped me get through the stress of the accident and the intense training I had to put in. I went on to place second at the race - thanks in large part to Optygen's ability to aid my body in dealing with stress."

"I consistently used Optygen and MultiV for 12 weeks leading up to my Ironman win in Louisville and turned in a PR of 9:23. Without question First Endurance offers athletes some of the finest and most effective supplements available. Quite simply-THESE PRODUCTS WORK!"

Michael Lovato - 2x Ironman Champion

Many would consider Lovato as the next US Ironman Star. He has all the tools to become a champion in Hawaii and has proved with his 9th and 17th place finishes that he has the toughness to finish with the best. Already an Ironman champion Lovato is poised to put in his best season yet. "I have been really impressed with the First Endurance products. This year, I had to immediately ramp up to a 32 hour training week and I am amazed at how good I feel. Since I started all the products at the same time, its difficult to tell which is giving me the most benefit, but one thing is for certain. I normally don't feel this good with this much training. Besides their unmatched performance, I really enjoy the flavor and consistency of the First Endurance products."

"Last summer I had the opportunity to do an extreme exercise test in high heat and humidity. My goal was to determine my exact needs during competition. I used EFS, and received A+ marks on all my electrolyte replacement. This drink has everything I need to keep my system in balance while racing in Hawaii.

Many folks have told me that when I hit the mid-thirties, my body was going to stop recovering as well as it did when I was younger. For the past three years, I have been using Ultragen after every hard workout, and I have to say that I am recovering better than I did in my twenties. Part of the reason for this improved recovery is that Ultragen has every necessary component to rebuild my body; the other part is that it's just so easy to use: it mixes fast, it goes down easy, and it's totally portable! As long as I'm racing, I'll continue to use Ultragen on a daily basis.

MultiV has been a part of my daily nutritional routine for the past three years. Despite all the rigorous training I do, and the strain I put on my body, I have not been worn down or sick one time since taking this product. To have such a great blend of all the essential vitamins and minerals in just three pills is not only convenient, it's crucial to staying healthy throughout the Ironman training build.

In the three years I've raced Ironman Arizona, I have notched a first, a second, and a third place. Success at an early race like this requires a short, but focused winter build-up. In the ten or twelve weeks I spend preparing for this event, one consistent element in my routine is taking Optygen. I find it gives me that extra edge in handling the stresses of an Ironman build.

Everyone has their special treat they add to the special needs bag in an Ironman. I have now found my new special treat: PreRace! This supplement is probably the best method of staving off the central fatigue that can be so detrimental to performance late in the marathon. With a scoop of PreRace beforehand, and a scoop during the event, there is very little chance of losing focus. "

Josiah Middaugh - 3x Xterra National Champion

As a rookie Pro everyone new he had the talent to race with the best, last year he proved it by winning the Xterra US National Title and finishing an impressive 3rd at Worlds. Middaugh posted the fastest bike and run splits in the same race twice in 2004 (Keystone & Xterra Nationals). Both times he was training with Optygen and Ultragen and racing using EFS. "Using Optygen in my training, I have noticed that I am able to hold my top end for longer. I have always been a strong runner, but in triathlon I usually go too hard on the bike. With Optygen I am able to maintain a strong run pace even after hammering the bike. I used EFS on the bike and run. I got stronger and stronger as the race went on and felt unstoppable on the run."

Sarah Haskins

Sarah began using First Endurance products on a recommendation from her coach. Within a few weeks her training and racing went up another level. “I began using First Endurance products a couple of weeks ago and was surprised to have immediate results. I used the Ultragen recovery drink post workouts and the Multi-V vitamins pre-workouts, and felt much more recovered than normal the following day. I was ready to have another quality training day again and very pleased with how my body was responding to the supplements.” Sarah has found she can train harder and recover better than ever before since starting on the First Endurance products. ”In the past when I have completed a difficult three week training block, I can feel my body on the verge of an illness. Often, my glands are swollen, and I have to back down my training. Since taking the Mulit-V, I have felt a boost to my immune system and although I am in a hard training block, I don’t feel my body is about to come down with an illness. Staying free from illness is critical for the success of an elite athlete.”

Julie Swail Ertel

Just two short weeks following Triathlon Olympic Trials, Julie Swail-Ertel contacted First Endurance and let us know of her experience using MultiV. ”I had a hard month of training in January and my the qualtity of my workouts began deteriorating, presumably due to low ferratin levels.” On a recommendation from Bob Seebohar, nutritionist at the Olympic Training Center, Julie started using MultiV. ”I started taking the Multi-V in March 2008 in an attempt to raise my ferratin levels. I liked that I got a complete vitamin in one product rather than having to take many different vitamins and minerals to meet my nutritional needs. After seeing good results, including winning the Olympic Trials 7 weeks after I began to take Multi-V, I can see that it is a vital part of my training.”

Shortly after Olympic Trials, Julie contacted First Endurance because she wanted to try other products. After a three week trial, she was hooked. ”I found Ultragen Orange Creamsicle is easy to drink after training and really helps me recover. It helps me replenish my glycogen stores and assures I get adequate protein. The addition of MultiV, Ultragen and Optygen have allowed me to improve the quality of my workouts during hard training blocks. I feel very positive that this can make a difference in reaching my goals for 2008 and Beijing.”

Andrew Yoder

"I started using EFS in 2007 and it has become a vital component of my training. I use EFS during every bike workout and have seen a huge difference. EFS provides the right electrolyte blend that prevents fading at the end of my workouts. The biggest difference has been during intense bike sessions. Taking EFS allows me to put in a solid effort for the entire workout and finish strong.

Ultragen is the premier recovery drink. Ultragen allows me to recover from intense training and be ready to work hard the next day. Putting in consistent training with the help of Ultragen has allowed me to achieve my goals.

First Endurance products have been a large part of my development. I truly believe in the products and what they can do for your training and racing. I will continue to use First Endurance products in the future because they allow me to get the most out of triathlon."

Justin is a 2nd Year Pro Focusing on 70.3 distance. "Nutritional supplementation is an essential component of any training program when attempting to get the most out of your body. During periods of intense and consistent training, food alone simply will not cut it. And First Endurance develops the ideal products to supplement my training and recovery because they are designed specifically for my pursuits: endurance sports. Too many supplement companies try to straddle the line between supporting endurance athletes and weightlifters and often come up short on both sides of that coin. First Endurance's singular focus - and commitment to clean, scientifically-proven products - allows the company to have a clear objective, resulting in products that represent the pinnacle in endurance nutritional supplementation."

Since using MultiV, one of the things I absolutely love is that my skin is much healthier. While I love the benefits related to my overall health, I am ecstatic to be getting a great source of omega 3 fatty acids; it's important to feel good and to look good!

For years I have really struggled to nail my Ironman race day nutrition. Since I started using the complete First Endurance line, I have been gaining confidence that this will no longer be a problem for me. The staff of experts at FE have offered me invaluable advice on the formulation of my race day plan. I can't wait to race again!

Ultragen has been a great addition to my post-workout nutritional routine. I love that I can easily mix a dose of it to have handy after every hard training session. I'm happy to finally get one fix for all my recovery needs, rather than combining all the necessary components into one big, cumbersome smoothie.

I have been using PreRace since it was first unveiled by the FE. It took me approximately two days to become addicted! I love the pick-up it gives me in the morning, and the fact that it helps me sustain my energy all day long.

Since I began using Optygen, I have noticed that I'm getting a lot more out of my speed sessions. One thing I love to do it turn out some fast times on the track. I really feel a difference in my ability to recover from the harder efforts; and my workouts have been getting faster and faster.

Ultragen is my favorite product from First Endurance. Out of all the various recovery drinks on the market, I can really feel the difference with this one. I feel like it really perks me up and allows me to be ready for the next day. The flavors are really good as well. However, I really feel that the fruit punch is a bit mis-leading on the actual taste. To me, it tastes more like strawberries and creme. I also get great feedback from people in the store who finally give it a try. They usually have gone through multiple other products in that class and won't ever go back once they try the Ultragen. That's as good of a testimonial for me.

Adding MultiV into my normal healthy diet really keeps me from getting sick. I had started taking more vitamins the year before and that seemed to help, but this mixture seems like a great blend for the active individual.

The EFS drinks and bars well balanced for endurance activity. The idea of not only taking in carbohydrates, and actually getting electrolytes is so simple, yet very quickly overlooked with most sport drinks on the market. I really like the consistency in either hot or cold conditions. I also enjoy the flavor.

"As an engineer, I tend to analyze - and over-analyze - everything. Fortunately, 1st Endurance helps take nutrition out of that mix leaving me free to spend more time thinking about exactly how many PSI my tires really ought to be.

In an industry dominated by pseudo-science and products often devoid of any research, 1st Endurance is a refreshing change. Their products are well researched, the key ingredients are prevalent in substantial quantities (not in "pixie dust" amounts, to borrow a phrase from Ultragen), and they offer a complete system to support the body through the rigors of training. It's truly invaluable to find a company whose entire product line - top to bottom - works as well as 1st Endurance.

In the buildup to a break through finish at Ironman Arizona in the fall of 2008, 1st Endurance products helped me to train, race, and -most importantly - recover optimally. Optygen and Ultragen helped me manage the inherent stress of preparing for an Ironman, and I had my most consistent training block ever in the build up to this race. EFS was a great for during-workout nutrition, and I was able to maintain high quality even on days where I had multiple hard sessions. During the marathon, I was able to get in more calories than I ever had before by using EFS Liquid Shot, and I ran a PB time by almost four minutes despite somewhat boneheaded pacing. Fortunately, 1st Endurance products are better thought out than some heat-of-the-moment decisions.

I really don't have ONE favorite First Endurance products. It's the "system" that is my favorite. In other words, picking one product is counter-intuitive, because it's about having a complete system that covers top to bottom. I like the bars, because I don't end up with stuff in them that ought to be in the recovery shake. And vice versa. No redundancy. No gaps."

I've always had a lot of energy. What I lacked in size and skill, I made up for with determination and competitiveness. Growing up, I spent most of that energy swimming, but when I got to high school, I realized that I had a natural talent for running. I won a few state championships and chased some of the fastest girls in the country around the track. I decided to go to Mt. St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, MD after receiving an athletic scholarship. At The Mount, I drastically improved my running times, but more importantly met a teammate from Australia who had been a pro triathlete before coming to the States to attend university. After hearing his stories, I began to think triathlon was something I could pursue.

After graduation, other things took over - I worked nonstop at one of the big accounting firms; my sister was diagnosed with cancer; my job and I moved to NYC to be with her. In need of an outlet, I joined Moving Comfort, one of the New York Road Runners Club competitive running teams. In 2000, I was named NYRRC runner of the year in the 25-29 age group, after winning several races in Central Park. Thanks to NYRRC, I was selected to join the FILA Discovery USA Marathon project and relocated to California to train on a mountain top. Marathon training was extremely difficult, but involved no cross training. I kept thinking about that sport triathlon that my friend told me about, wishing I could spend some of my training hours swimming or biking. When I got back to NYC, I bought a bike, joined a swim team and signed up for my first race.

With my strong swimming and running background, I had immediate success as an amateur triathlete. I turned pro in 2004 and was named USA Triathlon Rookie of the Year. Unfortunately, I spent 2005 on the sidelines with a pelvic stress fracture. Such a major injury in just my second year racing pro was devastating, but it turned out for the best. 2006 was a breakthrough season. I had a top 10 world cup finish and qualified for the US Elite Worlds Team. In 2007 and 2008, I have continued to learn more about the sport and have seen major improvements in all three sports. In 2008 my twins sister Laurel joined me in the professional ranks and I had my best season yet, with several podiums in major races, including 6 wins! Also important this season: I got married to John in New Paltz, NY in October!

Was named USAT Pro Rookie of the Year for 2008. She is the first cancer survivor to earn a USA Triathlon Elite License. In 2008 I fulfilled my dream of joining my twin sister as a professional triathlete. The dream began shortly after I finished my swimming career at George Washington University. However, my plans were derailed when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at age 23. Suddenly, my world involved doctors, hospitals and chemotherapy instead of working, working out, and spending time with my friends. Throughout my treatment and the recovery that followed I watched on the sidelines as Bec pursued her athletic goals. Her success inspired me to get well and get strong! I stopped watching and started racing in 2007, and I feel better than ever. After a successful year as an amateur, I became the first cancer survivor to earn a USAT pro license and made my pro debut in 2008. The season went well and I was awarded Rookie of the Year by USA Triathlon, four years after Bec received the same award! Bec and I race for the Ulman Cancer Fund's TEAM FIGHT to raise awareness for young adult cancer support. We race to win--but we also race to show all the fighters out there what can be done after cancer. Never give up the fight!

How it all began

"Wouldn't it be cool....if could train and race triathlons full-time?"

This was the conversation that Trevor and I had back in 2005 while I was pursuing my Ph.D. Norway. Our escape from the frigid north to Nice for Ironman France - Trevor's second Ironman - was the highlight of our time overseas, and one of two races he did the entire year. I was too busy being a grad student to compete, and my passion to be a professor was getting worn away by petty faculty politics and the grind of writing research grants.

Back in Canada in early 2006, with a new marriage, a new condo and solid full-time jobs, the triathlon dream was something we'd talk about wistfully after late night trainer rides and headlamp runs home at the end of the workday. How could we make it happen?

We embraced the challenge of training hard while working, and it was satisfying to win some local races, but we were nagged by thoughts like "If I can do this well while working full-time, what could I do if I were to really commit and train way more?" to which we always added "never mind training more, what abut having time to recover properly!? Could you imagine doing an early morning swim and then having a nap? Now that would be awesome..."

Of course, there was the wee issue of money. Getting sponsors wasn't easy, and we did not want to start our lives as pro triathletes with debt. 2007 came and went with some decent results, but nothing that really gave us the confidence to commit full-time. We were actually still somewhat content paying into our condo and acquiring nicer stuff!

Slowly the wheels kept churning, and the dream of racing and training full-time grew stronger...

The 2008 race season started out with the AVIA Wildflower Triathlon, and I placed 5th in the long-course race. No one knew who I was, but 5th wasn't too shabby. Maybe this quiet, insanely tall, 6'2" chick actually had some skills...

AVIA was looking for athletes to sponsor and we were working on a contract when I finished 3rd at the inaugural Boise 70.3. My next race after that was Ironman Coeur d'Alene and my brand new AVIA race kit was shipped to my home-stay the week of the race. To the surprise of all, I managed to win whole shebang.

The race winnings allowed us to pay off the last of our student loans, and gave me the confidence to see that, yeah, perhaps I could actually survive as a professional triathlete. This really lit the fire and convinced us to put our plan into action.

"Ironman Champion" sure made my athletic resume look a whole lot better!

By mid-summer, we had our house on the market, and were eying a small RV that was up for auction on "Repo Depo". The plan was to sell pretty much everything - all our non-triathlon worldly possessions - and live out of an RV, while still working full-time.

By September 2008, that was exactly what we'd done.

"Letting go isn't a loss, it's freedom", became our mantra and we were amazed how good it felt to get by on so little. At times it wasn't easy to live out of a camper, especially when our work schedules were so different. I worked from 8-5 Monday to Friday, and Trevor worked from 3 pm-11pm Sunday to Thursday. I'd get up a 5 am to swim before work, and he'd train in the late morning before work, coming home at midnight .

It is decidedly difficult to sneak around in a 8' x 20' living space with a kitchen table 3 ft from the bed, and the front door 3 ft from the table - especially when you are trying to strip off soaking wet riding gear. I learned to pour his midnight post-work cereal into a bowl so the crinkly bag wouldn't wake me up, and became a master of the silent breakfast while he slept. Despite our cozy abode, we hardly ever saw each other. But it was an adventure, we were perusing our dream, and we were happier than ever. Only 4 more months, only 3 more months...

Then in snowed. Victoria is a famously mild Canadian city, but the winter of 2008/2009 saw some of the longest cold stretches and heaviest snow falls on record. Frozen pipes in our camper, no running water and having to rely on unreliable busses for transportation started to strain the nerves. We had to ride the trainer inside the camper (it just barely fit between the table and kitchen sink) and all the dehumidifier crystals in the world weren't helping our mold problems.

Fortunately, there was light at the end of the igloo. By early February 2009 the snow had melted, our jobs had ended, and we were on our way to California. Our new lives as full-time athletes were about to begin. In the year since leaving Victoria we've had some great experiences. Check back next month for the lighter side of living in an RV!

Swam for four years at his high school in Jacksonville. Placed second at the 1997 state meet in the 500 freestyle and fifth in the 100 backstroke. Swam his freshman year at Florida State, then switched to cross-country and track his sophomore through senior years after discovering that he was more talented at running and burnt out on swimming.

Third overall and second American at 2007 USAT Elite Nationals. Member of the U.S. Pan American Games team in 2007, finishing eighth in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 2007 Tri-California Series Champion. Brian has also competed at World Championships every year except 2005 and has represented the U.S. well with his best place of 19th being in 2001 in Edmonton. In 2006, Brian became ITU Team World Champion along side American Teammates Andy Potts and Matt Reed. In his first year in 2001 he was second at the USA Triathlon Elite Nationals in New York City prior to the terrorist attacks.

"After a decade of professional triathlon and currently climbing into my early 30s in age, I have decided to make a commitment to utilize training and race nutrition to the fullest extent for the 2010 season and beyond. First Endurance has provided me with simply the best nutritional supplementation system for myself and endurance athletes alike. As it has only been two months of consistently consuming the vast array or First Endurance products, I have already seen fitness gains in my training and performance on a daily basis which has turned into great motivation for the 2010 season.

I start the day off with a Cappuccino Ultragen mixed with iced coffee every day. I realize that Ultragen is designed for recovery purposes but I feel I gain energy for the product and thoroughly look forward to starting my day off right with a Cappuccino Ultragen iced coffee every morning. Not only does Cappuccino Ultragen taste great with iced coffee but it also provides the proper nutrients that my demanding days require. "

I am a full time Professional Triathlete, dedicated to becoming the best multi-sport athlete that I can be. Triathlon is a grueling sport that requires you to balance the perfect mix of swimming, cycling, and running to be as strong and fast as possible.

Competing world-wide over nine months of the year, I have traveled as far as South Africa, Israel, Greece, Australia, and New Zealand gaining experience and learning about other cultures and myself along the way. Through the 2007 and early 2008, I focused on the International Triathlon Union governed World Cup races in order to earn enough points to be eligible for the 2008 US Olympic Trials events. The ITU races are comprised of 1.5k swim, 40k drafting bike, and 10k run. After the 2008 trials were completed, I raced in my first 70.3 event and competed in the many of non-drafting Olympic distance races. in the Lifetime Fitness series. For the rest of the 2008 season, I plan to race the last two world cups and end my season with the 70.3 world championships in November.

In 2009, I reached a long time goal and won the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon. In addition, I was happy to come back and repeat my 2nd place performance at the 70.3 world championships. I also had my best finish on the world cup season, finishing the world series races ranked 35th in the world.

In the next few years, I look forward to pursuing a variety of races from the ITU format to 70.3 and hope to excel in all the multi-sport events. In addition, I hope to contend for opportunity the 2012 US Olympic team slots. After that, I think the Ironman might come calling.

Began swimming and biking summer 2005. Having no background in swimming and/or biking, competed in first triathlon in June of 05. Something happened. Felt moved enough to take a chance on my potential in triathlon, moved to Boulder, CO to train with Siri Lindley and begin my journey to the 2012 Olympics. Huge risk? Absolutely. I wasn't even sure if I could swim the freestyle stroke, I wasn't sure if I could clip in and out of my bike, and I certainly wasn't sure if I could run FAST after swimming and biking. But I was willing to give it a shot- trusted and believed in myself and my devotion and determination and in three years, I have seen results. I am one giant step into my journey!!

Alex McDonald MD

Alex McDonald fills two roles for First Endurance both as a sponsored professional triathlete, and as a member of the First Endurance Research Board. He was born and raised in Woodstock, VT with his two brothers and watched his father compete in triathlons and marathons for many years during his youth. Attending undergraduate at Connecticut College in New London, CT Alex was active both academically and athletically as the starting goalie on the varsity water polo team and also ran recreationally. He began medical school in Burlington, VT where a friend announced his intention to compete in the sport of triathlon. Alex agreed to train with him having absolutely no idea what he was getting himself into. He bought his first road bike, raced in a sprint triathlon and was hooked, thus beginning his life long triathlon career. After just three short years racing triathlon Alex burst onto the national elite age-group scene in 2006 as the US champion, age-group champion and 5th overall finisher at Ironman Wisconsin. Followed 6 weeks later by at top 6% finish at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, HI.

In 2007 Alex was Ironman USA Champion; at Lake Placid, NY as well as the amateur world champion and 29th overall at the Ironman World Championship; in Kona, HI. In 2008, Alex's second season as a member of the Timex Multisport team, and first year as a professional triathlete, was a building year where he continued to grow as an athlete and competitor finishing 8th overall at Ironman USA and punching his ticket to Kona as a first year pro. In 2010 Alex will continue to build on his success as an athlete along with many of the same partners in the past, most importantly, his coach Kurt Perham at Personal Best Multisport Coaching and the First Endurance Team. He has competed in all distances from sprint to Ironman, with his focus on long course racing. Alex currently lives in Durham, NC with his dog Zoey and wife, Ashley, who is a resident at Duke University.

Rebecca Witinok-Huber

Growing up on a farm in rural Iowa wasn't exactly the typical starting place for a triathlete. Rebecca was a multi sport athlete of sorts, playing soccer, swimming from a young age, involved in dance, 4-H and music. She did however learn the value of dedication, hard work and following ones passion.

Attending the University of Vermont from 2002-2006, she studied Wildlife Biology and swam DI. Here, with the guidance of collegiate swimming coach Gerry Cournoyer, she decided to save up money over her freshman year, after doing a sprint triathlon that the Vermont swim team and local sponsors put on, on a borrowed bike. After a summer volunteering in Africa and training attached by a bungee to a tree in a 15 yard pool, and running in the nearby golf course, she spent the rest of the summer home in Iowa training for her first true triathlon test. In September of 2003 Becky competed in the Espirit Ironman Montreal Triathlon. She was hooked and shockingly won it.

After graduating and taking some time abroad for work, Becky moved to Miami, Florida and trained and raced along with working at a local triathlon store. In August of 2007 after hearing about renowned coach Siri Lindley and her team, Becky took a leap of faith and moved to Boulder, Colorado. She felt she had nothing to lose and big dreams to work towards. When she landed in Boulder, she competed in the U-23 and under National Championships in Longmont and was runner up. After training under Siri Lindley for a year, followed by Susan Williams in 2009 and continuing to improve, even through a tough bout of plantar fasciitis that sidelined her for much of 2009, she has come back stronger, and more determined than ever. Her 2009 season ended with a 10th place finish and being the first American female at ITU Long Distance World Championships in Perth Australia this past October. Starting 2010 off under Simon Lessing and Darren De Reuck of Boulder Coaching, she feels the training group and hands on coaching here in Boulder will assist her in moving forward on this journey. She looks forward to seeing what she is made of and inspiring others in 2010 and beyond.

Cappuccino Ultragen. Two words that mean so much as I approach the end of a long and intense workout. The formula of this First Endurance recovery drink, not only tastes delicious after a grueling effort, but also has the optimal ratio of proteins to sugars that makes it the best recovery drink available. Ultragen not only allows my body to recover from the session that I have just completed, but it also helps prepare my body for the next session that I will be completing later in the day. It is so good, that I can only refer to it as 'Crack-a-ccino.'

When I am not working out and drinking Crack-a-ccino, I enjoy riding my beach cruiser, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. I enjoy doing anything outdoors, and always appreciate a good adventure. In the past five years of racing professionally, I have tried many nutritional products. After being introduced to the products of First Endurance, it's evident through my recovery, performance, and day to day training, that their line of nutritional products are top notch, and easily surpass the competing nutritional products available. As the 2010 triathlon season approaches, I look forward to racing, and know that with First Endurance, I have the #1 nutritional support behind me.

Amy Marsh

Originally from Rochester, N.Y. I lived in Rochester 18 years and played every sport imaginable: swimming, soccer, tennis, gymnastics, softball (hated it), skiing, basketball, you name it. Starting in 8th grade, I solely focused on swimming to pursue a swimming scholarship to college.

I attended the University of Minnesota on an athletic scholarship. I went from Rochester which is cold to Minnesota where it's even colder! I was a four-time All-American and part of the 1999 and 2000 Minnesota Big-Ten Championship team. I also competed at the 2000 Olympic Swimming Trials.

Since moving to Austin, Texas I have been coaching various age-group and masters swim teams. In 2002 I competed in my first triathlon, Danskin, on a mountain bike! Since that time, I have continued to improve in triathlons and competed in the 2005 Hawaii Ironman World championships. I maintain to this day that I didn't want to go! In June 2006 I made the jump into the professional ranks. As a professional triathlete, I have had success on a local, national, and international level.

2009 was a breakout year as I won Ironman Wisconsin and 70.3 Buffalo Springs. Other highlights of 2009 were 2nd place at Hulaman (70.3 distance) and 4th place finishes at 70.3 Kansas and 70.3 Florida .

I'm looking forward to the 2010 season as I am part of TeamTBB (The Bike Boutique) this year. The focus will continue to be 70.3 and Ironman distance.

Since competing in my first triathlon in 1988, triathlons have been my passion. I have raced every distance from Ironkids to Ironman. While in high school, I represented the U.S. at the 1992 Triathlon World Championships in Muskoka, Canada. Shortly after transitioning from being a high school swimmer and cross country runner, I turned to triathlons and won my first of many Texas State Triathlon championship in 1993.

As an age grouper, I represented the USA at 3 ITU Triathlon World Championship events and qualified for more. After finishing 2nd overall at the USA Triathlon National Amateur Championships in 2003, I began racing as a professional in 2004 and have competed on 5 continents.

Since 2007 I have focused my racing on the 70.3 distance and more recently have moved to the 70.3 and Ironman Distance races. In the last three years, I have finished in the top-10 of almost every 70.3 event that I have raced. Highlights of my 2009 season include a 3rd place finish at the Hulaman ? Ironman distance triathlon, 4th place at the Buffalo Springs Lake Triathlon, 6th place finishes at 70.3 Kansas and New Orleans, and 9th place finishes at both Ironman Wisconsin and Ironman Florida.

I am looking forward to the 2010 season and will be racing as one of the professional triathletes on Team The Bike Boutique, a team of international professional triathletes. I also look forward to continuing the relationship with First Endurance as part of their team of professional triathletes

Donna Phelan

Originally from Newfoundland, Canada, Donna has been living in San Diego for the past six years. In her second year being sponsored by First Endurance, Donna said it was the proven science and study that drew her to First Endurance, and the reliable fueling in training and racing that kept her. "I love their products, especially Optygen HP and EFS Liquid Shot." She is also a Multi-V loyalist. "For all the flights Ii'm on every year, with the potential for a suppressed immune system, I don't think I got sick all year."

This year, the new formula for EFS, with its electrolyte content increase, caught her attention, especially as she prepared for daily training in 100 degree-plus Fahrenheit weather. "This is definitely coming with me to training camp in Thailand."

"The whole line of First Endurance products complement one another incredibly well. Optimizing, fueling and maintaining the body through training and racing is a delicate balance; when it goes wrong nutritionally, it really goes wrong. But when things go right, when you can train and race hard with energy and eliminate any potential pitfalls, that's when great things can happen. I've not once had a moment of nutritional failure in training or racing, and I think much of that can be owed to the fact that from the first MultiV vitamins in the morning through to the Ultragen I take after training, the products were designed to work together.

My favorite First Endurance product is the EFS Liquid Shot. In distance events, getting calories in exactly when you need them is important, and Liquid Shot is a convenient and easy way to do this. Not only is it packed with calories and electrolytes, it's easy to intake, even if water isn't handy. Since Liquid Shot doesn't have the same syrupy makeup of gels, I can take it anytime-between aid stations or out on long runs-without needing water to wash it down. There's no way you can do that with a gel."

James Cotter

Passion for triathlon was sparked during a trip to Kona in 1998 were I witnessed Peter Reid take the victory. First triathlon for me came in 2000 and I have been doing them ever since. LCotter (my wife) lived in Austin and then moved to Kona to work as a race director for a couple of the triathlons in Hawaii as well as train and work as a Nutrition Specialist at some of the island's resorts. We met before in Austin, dated in Kona, then got hitched and moved back to Austin to pursue life together as a Professtional Triathlete/Coach/Nutrition Specialist. It's a crazy ride but we make a good team!

"Just finished my first bottle of Multi V and have officially been on FE products for a month now. LOVE IT!!! The line-up works in perfect harmony. Between the carbogen in MultiV, electrolytes in EFS, the recovery goodness in Ultragen, and the energy in the shoots I feel great!! Can't wait to begin adding Optygen HP into the mix."
